Atlantic Food Justice Camp

Atlantic Food Justice Camp

Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) will be hosting the Atlantic Food Justice Camp, June 23-25 at Big Lake Camp in Oxford NS. This purpose of the camp is to provide a setting where people can talk about the issues around food – food justice, food security, food production to name a few. There will be discussion about how this affects us locally but also how we can be engaged globally around these issues.

You will have the opportunity to participate in field trips and participatory learning on:

  • Local and global hunger & nutrition;
  • Conventional vs organic farming; and
  • Markets, co-ops, and trade.

The cost is $85 for students as well for anyone else registering up until May 15th. After May 15th, the cost is $100. For more information, visit the CFGB’s website: www.foodgrainsbank.ca/atlantic_food_justice_camp.aspx or contact Rev. Alden Crain or Dr. Lois Mitchell.

We recently sat down with Dr. Lois Mitchell (Director of Public Witness & Social Concern for the Convention) and Rev. Alden Crain (Pastor of Midland Baptist and Volunteer Provincial Coordinator for CFGB) to talk about the Atlantic Food Justice Camp and our Convention’s connection to CFGB through Canadian Baptist Ministries.
