Union St. Baptist Celebrates 11 Baptisms

Union Street Baptism

rn

Union St. Baptist Church in St. Stephen NB recently celebrated 11 baptisms. Included in the group were a mother and two daughters, two sisters, a husband and wife, a father and son, and the pastor’s youngest son, Kenton. Of the 11 baptised, all but two have started attending the church since pastor Garth Williams came 7 years ago.

The church of 150 had only a few baptisms each year for several years. Pastor Williams credits the large number to an emphasis on spiritual disciplines.

For 14 weeks, the church focussed on mediation, prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, solitude, submission, service, confession, worship, guidance, and celebration. Pastor Williams stressed that the goal was to create space for the Holy Spirit to do His work, and says that “it truly was a rich time in the life of our church.”

Pastor Williams reports that more are preparing to be baptised later in the year.
