Groundbreaking at New Minas Baptist Church

Groundbreaking at New Minas Baptist Church

On Sunday, Feb 17, 2008, New Minas Baptist Church broke ground to expand their existing facilities. Rev. Dr. Robert Knowles, the church’s senior pastor, operated a back hoe while the congregation and others watched the official ceremony.

Among those gathered was the Honorable David Morse, Nova Scotia MLA for Kings South. He praised the church”s efforts in setting a moral tone in the community and in relieving the needs of those less privileged.

The 1.5 million dollar expansion will increase capacity in the church, which has been growing. Church leaders hope the project will help the congregation extend its influence and outreach to the residents of the Annapolis Valley. Most of the money for the project has already been pledged over the next three years.

The church’s building is not the congregation’s only expansion project. In cooperation with the Village of New Minas, they have also been expanding their parking lot.
