Cornerstone & Master Packaging Partner for Haiti

Cornerstone Baptist PEI

Efforts are underway by Master Packaging and Cornerstone Baptist Church, PEI. Together, employees and church volunteers are working to fill seeral large cargo containers with relief goods for earthquake victims in Haiti. The containers will be received in Haiti by ONEXONE – a non profit foundation committed to supporting, preserving and improving the lives of children in Canada, the United States and around the world. Master Packaging is donating $50,000 to purchase items for the container.

Already donated are 3 tractor trailor loads of medical supplies from FAME – a non-profit medical mission organization. Donations can be dropped off at the Walmart in both Charlottetown and Summerside. Trailers are located close to the main entrance of each store.

The employees of PEI Mussel King in Red Head Harbor are also participating in the effort and this company has agreed to serve as a drop-off point for donated relief items in the eastern end of the province.

Summerside Presbyterian Church will serve as a sorting station for donations received at the Summerside Walmart.

“There is a tremendous and immediate need for relief materials in Haiti,” said Mary Jean Irving, CEO of Master Packaging. “We care and we want to help the people of Haiti who are in desperate need. The response from our employees, Pastor Phil Woodworth and the volunteers from Cornerstone Baptist Church and Summerside Presbyterian, as well as PEI Mussel King is overwhelming. Everyone is pulling together to make a difference.”

Pastor Phil Woodworth is very excited about this opportunity to make a difference. “Last week when the news struck of Haiti, I went through so many emotions. As a follower of Christ, you want to help. But other than sending money and praying, you feel helpless. One phone call removed every reason why we can’t do more. Now we’re collecting goods from all over the Island to send down in containers. So far we have enough food to feed over 25,000 people along with clothes, bedding, tools and so much more. This has been awesome!!”
