Online Leadership Circle: Listening and responding to racism and prejudice

June 10, 2020

This week we’re having an important discussion on racial injustice and inequality, in response to the murder of George Floyd and the global protests against anti-Black racism.
Online Leadership Circle is an online gathering for CBAC pastors and church staff on issues that are current and important.

Facilitated by Peter Reid (Executive Minister) and Kevin Vincent (Director of New Congregations), this discussion will focus on these crucial questions:

  • Is there a problem with racism in Canada? Are we over-reacting?
  • What is meant by the term, “systemic racism” and what are the experiences of our Black sisters and brothers with this?
  • How can we be more sensitive to Black people and people of colour? How can we become good allies?

Featuring special guests:

  • Rev. Dr. Rhonda Britton (Senior Pastor, New Horizons Baptist Church, NS)
  • DeRico Symonds (Manager of Youth Advocate Program, City of Halifax, Counsellor, and Community Activist)
  • Rev. Dr. LeQuita Porter (Consultant, Former Pastor of East Preston United Baptist Church, NS, and Former Prosecutor)
