Dr. Robert Knowles has been appointed as Crandall University’s next Vice President for Advancement, effective August 1, 2012.

An alumnus of Crandall (BA ‘89), Acadia University (MDiv ’93), Providence Theological Seminary (MA ’99) and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary (DMin ’05), Dr. Knowles has also completed the Arrow Leadership Program.

A veteran pastor within the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches, Dr. Knowles was Associate Pastor and later Senior Pastor of Highfield Baptist Church in Moncton NB before serving for the past nine years as Senior Pastor of New Minas Baptist Church. Under his leadership, New Minas has grown
to become one of the largest churches within the Convention. Dr. Knowles recently completed a term as President of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches and has served on a variety of non-profit boards.

“I am thrilled that someone of Dr. Knowles’ stature and ability has agreed to join our senior
leadership team at Crandall”
, declared President-elect Dr. Bruce Fawcett. “His love for the University and its constituency, in addition to his proven leadership abilities, point to exciting days ahead for the University as we enter our next phase of growth and development.”

Interim President Andrew Hopper, who chaired the Search Committee, noted that affection for the University and its mission runs deep in Dr. Knowles’ family, beginning with Dr. Knowles’ grandfather, Dr. Myron Brinton, who served as the University’s founding Principal. Many of his family members have attended Crandall over the years and Dr. Knowles has served on both the Board of Governors and the University Senate. He and his wife Crystal are both alumni.

Reflecting on his appointment, Dr. Knowles stated, “It is a joy for me to return to Moncton and serve at Crandall University! I know first hand the strong influence the University had on my life, laying the foundation for a life of ministry and service. I look forward to working with the rest of the staff team to provide this same foundation to future generations of students.”
